One Word Randomness

As I was driving to work this morning (yes I type and post blogs at work) I was thinking about things and all these random blogs came to mind, so I thought I would just put them all into one! Here is your dose of Random Thoughts today…Hey it could be Random Thought Thursday…


I went to Wednesday service with JAG last night at his church. This Pentecostal raised girl went to her first Lutheran service and I have to say it was as boring as I thought. You know I just realized that a Pentecostal church was good for this girl with ADD. There was always something happening…singing…dancing…talking in tongues…kind of happy that part of my life is over. Anyway, back on topic – Appearances, mainly public appearances. JAG’s pastor last night was talking about judging people by their appearance and I think he touched briefly on public appearance.

My question to you is do you have a Public Appearance? I may not being asking it correctly for some people so let me rephrase: do you act one way in public and another in private. I know that we all have things we do in private that we don’t do in public, but do you change who you are for certain people? I have been guilty of this in the past. Gweedo and I were pro’s at what I call the “everything is fine” smile. You know the smile…my best friend Nicole knows this as my tri-delta smile. The “I want to slap the hell out of him, but I won’t do it in public so I will just smile and act like his flaws are attractive.”

For the past two years I have been working on being ok with myself. My goal is to be transparent. I want to be the same person from my skin to my core. I want you to see me and take me for exactly who I am, not just the appearance I give you. People who know me know me to the core, but I want to show that to the world. I want to be known for who I am on our first meeting.

Now that being said…I still do a few things for public appearance. I still cover the tattoos on my arms when I stand in front of groups of people I don’t know. When I meet JAG’s family my tattoos will be covered…at least for the first meeting. I am not ashamed of them, but unfortunately even though I get complemented on my colors I still get judged by my ink. Still working on not caring about being judged…not sure if many people can pull that off.


Quick easy one…getting it cut! I found the perfect cut yesterday on a blog I was reading. I am more impulsive then I should be sometimes, but now I HAVE TO GET MY HAIR CUT! I think it is best. I would love to have long hair again, but before my hair was thick and long. Since being diagnosed with PCOS it has thinned and the longer it gets the more evident it is that is thinner. PCOS: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome for those of you who don’t know. I thought it was the end of the world when I was diagnosed, but now I know so many people who have it. So tonight is the night…gonna get it cut!


I was listening to a 60 sec bit from James Dobson this morning that talked about the keys to a successful family…here is what I found online as well.

A family consists of the father, mother and their children, living together as a group doing things in common and having same traits and often times share common attitudes, interests, and goals. Families are to promote each other’s happiness and welfare, invest time and energy in each other and made family their number one priority. It is important that schedules are structured to allow family members to spend time together and also listen well to each other’s troubles and complaints. A successful family must at all times learn to:
· Communicate and listen
· Affirm and support family members
· Respect one another
· Develop a sense of trust
· Share time and responsibility
· Know right from wrong
· Have rituals and traditions
· Share a religious core
· Respect each other’s privacy.

Remember that a prayerful family stays together.
I used to be a food blogger. I say “used to” because I have updated my blog in some time. That should all change this weekend. I hope to make brisket tacos and yummy healthy oatmeal raisin cookies. I have been blessed to have found another foodie, so I think it is about time for me to cook for him.

Defined as mentally or emotionally satisfied with things as they are. It’s an awesome feeling.

Yesterday they removed my father’s tonsils, part of this right lymphoid and a small tumor from his voice box. Tumor has already tested benign. After a two hour procedure we don’t know much more. They still have not found the primary source of the cancer. My parents have another appointment this afternoon. I am hoping we know more after that. My parents are coming into town briefly on the weekend of the 13th. God love him my family said he needs a list of all the things I need repaired at my house so he has something to do.


My father is still a big part of my prayers. Shelby is always a big topic in prayer. JAG is also a strong area of my prayers. Last night my sister was in my prayers. It does not appear that my father’s condition is not going to bring us any closer; actually it has driven us back to not speaking at all. That is the way it will be for now and I am ok with it.

I am thinking that StrawberryTart may have some changes…some new topics…some new thought patterns. Not so much anger…not so much profanity, I am thinking that is a good thing.
